What Halter does
Halter makes solar-powered, GPS-enabled collars that let dairy and beef farmers move, contain and monitor cattle remotely from a smartphone app, replacing physical fencing. The collars use audio cues, GPS and machine learning to guide animals to virtual paddock boundaries and to detect heat and health events. The company says farmers running herds from a few hundred to more than 2,000 cattle use the system across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, Canada, Argentina and Uruguay. Founder Craig Piggott started Halter in 2016 after growing up on a Matamata dairy farm.
