Its Starcloud-1 satellite, launched in November 2025, carried an Nvidia H100 GPU, and CNBC reported that the company went on to train a language model in space. The company says its next satellite, Starcloud-2, will carry a GPU cluster with persistent storage and 24/7 access, serve both in-space users such as Earth-observation satellites and terrestrial customers, and begin operating in 2027. The company started in January 2024 in El Segundo, California as Lumen Orbit and now has its headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
