What Veesion does
Veesion analyzes footage from a retailer's existing security cameras to detect gestures associated with shoplifting and sends real-time alerts to store staff's mobile devices, without using facial recognition. The company says more than 6,000 stores across over 60 countries use its software, detecting roughly 100,000 suspicious gestures a month. Veesion was founded in Paris in 2018 by Thibault David, Benoît Koenig and Damien Menigaux, who met while studying AI at HEC Paris and École Polytechnique. In May 2025 the company raised a €38M Series B plus €15M in non-dilutive financing, bringing total funding to €53M, according to EU-Startups.
