What Aya 23 does
Aya 23 is a family of multilingual language models from Cohere, released in May 2024 as an earlier iteration of the Aya Expanse line. Open weights are published for 8B and 35B versions covering 23 languages, and the weights are downloadable from Hugging Face. The authors state that Aya 23 outperforms Aya 101 on the languages it covers and outperforms Gemma, Mistral and Mixtral on a range of discriminative and generative tasks.
